Costs and refund policy

There will be no refund of instruction fees, unless illness has prevented attendance at all sessions. A schedule will be posted online and at the pool in Cardiff.

Lifesaving Society lessons cost $50/per session for Residents and $70/per session for Non-Residents.

How to pay

We offer online payment including e-Transfer and online banking. To view all the options that are available visit our Online Payments page.

Other payment options include cash, debit or cheque made payable to the Municipality of Highlands East and can be made at the Main Office in Wilberforce by appointment on Monday to Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Please note that credit card payments cannot be made at the Municipal Office.

Informed Consent

The following must be read and signed by a parent or guardian of a participant.

Elements of Risk and Waiver

In consideration of the acceptance of my application and for allowing my minor child/ward to participate in the related events and activities of Swimming Lessons at the Cardiff Pool, I hereby warrant and agree:

1. I am the parent/guardian having full legal responsibility for decisions regarding my minor child/ward; and
2. I understand that there is a certain element of risk associated with recreational activities such as swimming including but not limited to cuts, abrasions, sprains, fractures, spinal injury, brain injury or even death; and
3. I am familiar with and accept, on behalf of myself and my minor child/ward that there is a risk of serious injury and death in participation in swimming; and
4. I have satisfied myself and believe that my minor child/ward is physically, emotionally, and mentally able to participate in this event; and
5. I understand, and will instruct my minor child/ward, that all applicable rules for participation must be followed and that at all times the sole responsibility for personal safety remains with my minor child/ward.

Acknowledgement

I understand and agree, on behalf of my minor child/ward, his/her heirs, Assigns, Personal Representatives and Next of Kin, Myself, my Heirs, Assigns, Personal Representatives and Next of Kind that my execution of this document constitutes:

1. An unqualified assumption of all risks associated with participation in this activity by my minor child/ward even if arising from negligence or gross negligence, including any compounding or aggravation of injuries caused by negligent first aid operations or procedures, of the Municipality or any persons associated therewith or participating therein; and
2. A full and final release and waiver of liability and all claims that I have or may in the future have against the Corporation of the Municipality of Highlands East and all of its employees, agents, servants and sponsoring companies, and elected and appointed officials, successors and assigns (herein referred to collectively as the “Releasees”) from all claims, demands, damages, costs, expenses, actions, and causes of action, whether in law or equity, in respect of death, injury, loss or damage to my minor child/ward, myself, or my property due to any cause whatsoever, arising or to arise by reason of my participation in this course, or in any activities associated with this course, notwithstanding that same may have been contributed to or occasioned by the negligence of the Releasees; and
3. An agreement to Indemnify and save and hold harmless the Releasees, and each of them, from any litigation expense, legal fees, liability damage, award or cost, of any form or type whatsoever, they may incur due to any claim made against them or any one of them whether the claim is based on the negligence or the gross negligence of the Releasees or otherwise;
4. An acknowledgement that I have read and understand this Agreement and I am aware that by signing this Agreement I am waiving certain substantial legal rights which my minor child/ward, His/her Heirs, Next of Kin, Executors, Administrators and Assigns and I may have against the Releasees; and
5. I sign this document voluntarily and without inducement.

Permission

By signing below I hereby give my child/ward permission to participate in swimming lessons at the Cardiff Pool in the Municipality of Highlands East.
